About Us

The University of Fairfax (UoF) is an independent non-profit (501.c.3) institution of higher education which seeks to address the growing shortage of Information Security (InfoSec) professionals. (ISC)˛ projects a shortage of 120,000 InfoSec professionals annually -- and a total InfoSec job demand of 2.1M by 2010.

UoF provides specialized online graduate programs in Information Security and Information Assurance. Since its inception in 2002, the University has:

  • Established a premium faculty of InfoSec practitioners who have developed a focused, state-of-the art InfoSec curriculum.
  • Enabled career growth for students and alumni with employers including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, US Department of Treasury, DoD, VA, Cybertrust, Lockheed Martin, Wachovia, ManTech and Verizon.
  • Provided InfoSec Certification Support: Enabling students to earn high demand InfoSec certifications: CISSP, CISA, NSA-IAM and NSA-IEM.
  • Provided students with opportunities to retain, maintain, or reactivate their DoD Secret and Top Secret security clearances.
  • Established an online community of 26,000 IT/IS/InfoSec professionals.
  • Enrolled over 5,000 students in its online CISSP preparation program in the past 18 months.
  • Enrolled over 135 students in its online MS and Doctorate programs.
  • Graduated a total of 43 MS and PhD students.
  • Facilitated dissertation research in topic areas such as:

    • FISMA compliance at federal labs
    • Assessing the National Security Agency’s IAM certification program
    • The NSA IAM and Certification and Accreditation
    • Factors affecting CISSP effectiveness
    • The IS Certification and Accreditation process at US INTEL agencies.
    • Malware identification in DoD agencies
    • Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance
    • ISSE and System Acquisition
    • Identity theft prevention for senior citizens
