University Attacks Shortage of Qualified IT Compliance Execs
-- For Release Thursday, September 28, 2006
In search of the leading academic perspective on the latest IT compliance trends, eWEEK.com interviewed University of Fairfax president, Dr. Victor N. Berlin. For details, see eWEEK's recently published article addressing the ever-increasing demand for executive-level IT compliance officers. In this article, Dr. Berlin explains why InfoSec employers covet highly qualified senior compliance officers who can offer much more than technical knowledge. As employers face the mounting challenges of complex (and sometimes ambiguous) compliance regulations, says Dr. Berlin, they require more multidimensional compliance officers. University Professor Chrisan Herrod, who recently concluded her role as CSO of the SEC, echoes Dr. Berlin's finding. In her view, analytical, program management, and writing skills supported by an information security foundation are a must for today's compliance executive. Professor Colleen Murphy, Director of Compliance Solutions Delivery at Scalable Software, also offers her views on this subject. Read more about what she and the others have to say at eWEEK.com.
